Comic thriller wraps local filming

Posted by admin on May 28, 2010 · Movie News · No Comments ·

Salvation Boulevard is saying good-bye to metro Detroit. The comedic thriller starring Pierce Brosnan of James Bond fame wrapped filming Thursday. It’s expected to hit theaters next year. The entire movie was filmed here, producer Cathy Schulman says. Scenes were shot in Milford, Livonia, Novi, Wixom, Brighton, Dearborn, Plymouth, Ann Arbor, Trenton and Grosse Pointe. “And surprisingly to me, we were able to find every location we desired within an hour-and-a-half radius,” says Schulman, who’s also president of Mandalay Pictures. The film’s cast — Greg Kinnear, Ed Harris, Jennifer Connelly and Marisa Tomei — gave local residents a chance for impressive star sightings. “I think people have been excited and surprised wherever we’ve been, particularly to run into actors of this caliber, and often to see 007 walking out of a building or restaurant,” says Schulman. The Trinity House Theatre in Livonia, Don’s of Traverse City, a restaurant in Novi, and the Riley Broadcast Center in Novi, home of WTVS-TV, were among the locations used. The movie is based on a novel by Larry Beinhart, which Schulman describes as a satirical thriller about faith in America. The crew spent about 15 hours filming at Leon’s Family Dining in Dearborn. Brosnan, Kinnear, Tomei and comedian Jim Gaffigan were at Dearborn’s Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, where scenes were filmed inside and outside, says theater manager Martin Zbosnik. “It’s not your typical day in Dearborn having these people walk through the lobby,” he says. But “by the second or third day, it was like, ‘Oh, there’s Pierce Brosnan.’ It was just another person walking through the door.”.

‘The Beautiful Between’ Book Report

Posted by admin on May 25, 2010 · Misc News · No Comments ·

The Beautiful Between, which came out on May 10, is a melancholy tale about a girl who may inhabit the same Upper East Side New York as the Gossip Girl set, but whose inner life is a whole lot deeper than Serena’s or Blair’s.
Connelly Sternin has lived alone with her emotionally distant mother since her father died when she was 2, and to cope with her desolation, she relates everything to fairy tales in her mind. Though she’s no poor Cinderella at her fancy prep school, she is pretty shocked when the school’s Prince Charming, Jeremy Cole, decides to befriend her. But he’s not sweeping her off her feet, and he’s not just using her for her brains as they study physics and SAT vocab together. He’s looking for someone who understands what he’s going through as his little sister suffers from leukemia.
Connelly Sternin: “Connelly’s name was inspired by one of my favorite actresses, Jennifer Connelly,” Sheimel said, explaining that she’d bend space and time to cast a 16-year-old, Labyrinth-era version of the actress.

Arclight Films International will handle sales on all remaining territories on Mandalay Vision’s comedic thriller Salvation Boulevard, currently shooting in Michigan. Myriad Pictures previously handled sales on the film, which boasts an ensemble of Pierce Brosnan, Jennifer Connelly, Ed Harris, Greg Kinnear and Marisa Tomei. Arclight managing director Gary Hamilton and Victor Syrmis will serve as executive producers on the film, as will Myriad CEO and president Kirk D’Amico. George Ratliff is directing from Larry Beinhart’s novel of the same name about a born-again Christian on the run from fundamentalist members of his church. “The complexity of the production process often demands flexibility,” D’Amico said. “We are glad that we were able to work with Mandalay to accommodate the needs specific to this film.” ““The film has huge potential both commercially and as a work of such quality and substance that everyone associated with it will be justifiably proud,” Hamilton said. “Mandalay appreciates all of the efforts of Myriad to date, and is so pleased to be working with Arclight’s team at Cannes,” Mandalay Vision president Celine Rattray said.
