Jennifer Connelly Goes Blonde

Jennifer Connelly, sporting much lighter blonde locks, arrives at LAX with sons Kai and Stellan on Wednesday (November 11). The 38-year-old actress dyed her hair for her new role in What’s Wrong with Virginia, which also stars Lucas Grabeel, Emma Roberts and Alex Frost. Jennifer recently told the Daily Mirror that Stellan, 6, and Kai, 12, are still wondering what they want to be when they grow up. “Stellan was saying for a while that he wanted to be an actor,” Jennifer shared. “But we just went on holiday where we did a lot of snorkelling and now he’s saying he wants to be a marine biologist.” Source: JustJared.com

Connelly and Bettany camp to avoid paparazzi

Jennifer Connelly and her husband Paul Bettany are big fans of camping holidays – because photographers refuse to trail them during the “unglamourous” breaks. The Hollywood couple, who wed in 2003, has blasted other stars who complain about the paparazzi – insisting it’s easy to find privacy away from the media. They enjoy heading out on vacation to the countryside with their six-year-old son Stellan, and 11 year old Kai, from Connelly’s previous relationship, despite the harsh living conditions. Bettany says, “Three weeks ago me and my missus and the kids were covered in mud for three days, because we got rained on from a great height when we were camping in the White Mountains (in New Hampshire)… It’s like proper camping out in the wild with bear canisters – you have to go and put your food 800 yards away in case the bears smell it. “There’s no comfort, no blow-up beds or anything – you’re just in a tent and you fire up a little Primus (camping stove) to cook your food, and again you have to do that a long way from the tent in case the bear smells the food… We go as often as we can. “It’s entirely normal, the most unglamourous thing you can do. Everybody stinks, and you’re cold and you’re wet and yet you see things you’d never see from a car or a hotel room. You walk every day and you’re away from everything. “Some people in this business go, ‘I can’t go anywhere without the paparazzi’, but if you really want to you can find a way to go and be private.”

Bettany: ‘working with wife comes naturally’

Paul Bettany was delighted to team up with wife Jennifer Connelly for the forthcoming Charles Darwin biopic – because the pair has always wanted to test its chemistry on the big screen.Creation sees Bettany playing Darwin, while Connelly takes on the role of the English naturalist’s wife Emma, in the movie chronicling the scholar’s early years as he struggles to cope with the loss of a child. The pair was quick to sign up for the project – in a bid to see if their relationship could be conveyed onscreen. But Bettany admits the couple, who wed in 2003, experienced some last-minute nerves just a day before they had to start shooting their scenes. He tells Filmstar magazine, “The offer came very quickly, and it appealed straight away to the pair of us to do it together. In this day and age, and in this culture, it’s quite difficult working with your wife because people seem to frown on it. “(It’s been) fantastic for a number of reasons. One is that you get a lot for free. When working with someone who isn’t your wife, one maybe tends to look at them too much while trying to present the idea of a relationship onscreen. Sort of ignoring each other is much more telling in a genuine long relationship; there’s a much more natural physicality. “On the night before out first day of shooting, we were thinking, ‘What if we just sit there and giggle at each other and can’t do it?’ But right from the get-go, it’s been fantastic.”

Newmarket Films Picks Up ‘Creation’

Newmarket Films announced today that it has acquired U.S. rights to director Jon Amiel’s Creation, a film which focuses on Charles Darwin and his family as he struggles to finish his legendary book On The Origin of Species, which went on to become the foundation for evolutionary biology. The screenplay was written by John Collee, based on the biography Annie’s Box which was penned by Darwin’s great-great grandson Randal Keynes using personal letters and diaries of the Darwin family. The film was produced by Jeremy Thomas at Recorded Picture Company (The Last Emperor, Sexy Beast), with BBC Films and Ocean Pictures. Creation stars real-life couple Paul Bettany (A Beautiful Mind, Master and Commander: The Far Side Of The World) and Academy Award winner Jennifer Connelly (Requiem for a Dream, A Beautiful Mind) as Darwin and wife. Newmarket plans to release the film in December. In Creation, Amiel (The Singing Detective, Entrapment) and Collee (Master and Commander: The Far Side Of The World) bring to life a psychological love story that gives a unique and intimate perspective on Darwin, his love for his family and his deeply religious wife, and his struggle to find a balance between faith and science. The film co-stars Toby Jones (Frost/Nixon, Infamous) and Jeremy Northam (Gosford Park, Amistad). “We at Newmarket pride ourselves in getting behind important films that help open the door for discussion and conversation, as is the case with Creation,” said Newmarket’s Chris Ball. “While Darwin’s name has come to symbolize one side of a debate between the scientific and the theological, Creation personifies the debate, with both sides contending, sometimes violently, within the man. In that sense, we believe that the film will appeal both to people of faith and people of science.” “The gala opening of Creation at Toronto generated excitement amongst a large audience,” said Jeremy Thomas. “Every producer wants to share his belief in a film with a distributor, and in Newmarket I have found a group who are passionate about reaching a wide audience with Creation. Jennifer Connelly may never work again. The A Beautiful Mind actress – who raises sons Kai, 12, and Stellan, six, with husband Paul Bettany – admits she has no projects lined up for when she finishes filming What’s Wrong With Virginia?. She said: ‘The biggest thing for me is wanting my kids to grow up safely and have happy lives. To me that’s enough. ‘The family is the most important thing to me. I’m very blessed. I have gorgeous, healthy, funny kids and a good husband. ‘Becoming a mother has made all the difference in terms of learning to take responsibility for my life. Parenthood changed the way I do everything.’ While both Jennifer and Paul have carved out successful acting careers, neither Kai – whose father is photographer David Dugan – nor Stellan want to follow in their footsteps. She added to Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: ‘Stellan was saying for a while that he want to be an actor. ‘But we just went on holiday where we did a lot of snorkelling and now he’s saying he wants to be a marine biologist. Weirdly, at exactly the same age, Kai said he wanted to be a marine biologist too.’
