Paul Bettany thinks his wife Jennifer Connelly is “mesmerizing”. The Broken Lines star – who has been married to the actress for eight years – explained while his spouse is “very beautiful”, he finds it frustrating that she always “moves at her own pace”. He said: “My poor wife. She moves at her own pace – she’s sort of slightly in slow motion, it’s mesmerizing and very beautiful – and I’m like, ‘C’mon, c’mon’, we’re going to be late.” Paul explained his home life has changed since becoming a father to Stellan, eight, and seven-month-old Agnes, as well as raising Kai, Jennifer’s 14-year-old son from a previous relationship, as he turns down movie projects because his kids need to know he’ll be around. He added in an interview with Observer Food Monthly magazine: “I don’t want to sound like it’s been a sacrifice for me. Sometimes you make decisions to not work and be with your family. “I have children – they need to know Dad’s going to come home.” However, Paul admitted while as an actor he can make mistakes, the same cannot be said for being a parent. He explained: “You can fudge a lot as an actor but you can’t fudge being a parent.”

Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly were kept busy this Christmas after hosting 25 of their friends for the holidays in Vermont. The Wimbledon star has compared his hectic festive season to “running a hotel” – and has vowed never to tackle such an ambitious task again. He tells Britain’s The One Show, “We had this place up in Vermont and I invite the whole of England, all of my friends, over. “We had about 25 people living there for about two weeks. We do all the cooking and cleaning – it’s like running a hotel. “It’s a nightmare, I’m not doing it anymore!”

The celebrity couple is parents to eight-year-old Stellan and baby daughter Agnes, while the actress is also mother to 14-year-old son Kai from a previous relationship. Both stars agreed that one of them should always take time off when the other lands a job, but the chance to film financial drama Margin Call prompted Bettany to break the promise while his wife was away on a shoot in Michigan. As a result, Stellan and Kai – as well as the family’s dog – found themselves sleeping on set as the cameras rolled. Speaking on Britain’s The One Show, Bettany says, “We try as best as we can to work one-on one-off, it’s really simple and it hardly ever works. It didn’t work (on Margin Call). It just came up, it was a great script, she was working in Michigan. I read the script, I met the director, I really wanted to do it – it had Kevin Spacey and Stanley Tucci and I said please let me do it… “There were night shoots, so consequently I had my kids on set with me. There were no trailers – it was a tiny movie but I had this little office space on the trading floor we were shooting on and I had an inflatable mattress in there with my kids asleep and my dog.”

He says, “I am a city boy but my wife loves the outdoors and consequently I do a lot of hiking, and I mean proper hiking up in the mountains. Her reason for that is you never get paparazzi up in the mountains.” Bettany jokes, “If you do, you can kill them and bury them and no-one will ever know.”

Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Connelly and her husband Paul Bettany have put their TriBeCa penthouse on the market, according to the real estate blog Curbed. The asking price is $8.495 million for the swanky penthouse, located at at 288 West St. The couple bought the 4,000-square-foot apartment — boasting a 45-foot-wide living room and Hudson River views — for $6.995 million in 2008, according to the site. Connelly was one of the celebrities who vocally campaigned against the Spring Street Sanitation Garage in 2010, alongside John Slattery of “Mad Men” and James Gandolfini of “The Sopranos.” Appeals from high-profile residents ultimately failed, and the city intends to go ahead with the project, located at the corner of Spring and West streets — a short stroll from Connelly’s penthouse. The Spring Street project has been controversial and mature trees have already been cleared to make way for it. The full-floor loft has a library, glass-enclosed sunroom and 1,380 square feet of private outdoor roof space, according to the listing with Douglas Elliman. It’s part of a 14 unit co-op, built in 1890 and converted in 1984.

A new official prequel comic book is being written for David Bowie movie Labyrinth. Comic publisher Archaia revealed that the new “tragic” story will be set before the events of the 1986 film directed by Muppets creator Jim Henson, but will be “true to the spirit of the original”, which also starred Jennifer Connelly. Editor-in-chief Stephen Christy told Entertainment Weekly: “We can say it’s a prequel. It’s the story of how Jareth is brought into the Labyrinth for the first time. So, it doesn’t deal with Sarah, it doesn’t deal with Toby or anything like that. “It’s a very tragic story that is the opposite of Sarah’s, which has triumph at the end. It’s a prequel, so we know what happens in the movie.” Illustrator Brian Froud, who worked on Labyrinth and 1982 Henson movie The Dark Crystal, will helm “all the character designs and all the covers and conceptualising and everything”, Christy confirmed. Of the possible inclusion of Bowie material in the new comic, Christy added: “I want to do songs where they’re songs being sung [by characters] and we show the notes on the page, so you can actually play along.n”The budget to get Bowie to do one song would be the budget of all the books, but we’re talking to him to at least get his blessing or maybe an introduction or something… He also has likeness approval.” The book is slated for a late 2012 release.
