Powerhouse acting couple Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly have just finished a labour of love, their film about Charles Darwin’s marriage. And the result is a fascinating insight into a difficult period of the famous naturalist’s life, during which he wrote his then controversial book about evolution. Creation focuses on the conflict between the father of the evolution theory and his deeply religious wife Emma. British actor Paul describes playing the great man as a “real honour and also horribly frightening”. He was grateful, though, for the chance to work with his Oscar-winning wife Jennifer, whom he met on the set of A Beautiful Mind, and who stars as his spouse in the bio-pic. “We did get a lot for free in terms of the physicality that real married people have with each other,” he explains. “There’s a slight absent minded closeness that you see between Jennifer and I in the movie which is really, really useful.”
